Visakha Eye Hospital(VEH) Trust started a charity wing in 2001 after visiting a renowned Aravind Eye Hospital founder Dr. Venkataswamy. The charity wing has an outpatient division in the base hospital, conducts outreach camps, a School children's Eye screening program, and a Vocational training program for paramedical staff.
Visakha Eye Hospital Trust provides out-patient service at its Base Hospital for the patients with below poverty line (BPL) cards free of cost people are availing these services daily between 9 am to 12 Noon.
Visakha Eye Hospital Trust Provides School Children Eye Screening Program Details:
Every year nearly 10,000 (Ten thousand) children are being screened in and around Visakhapatnam. Those who require spectacles are supplied free of cost. Any child requiring further investigations or surgery is referred to the base hospital and treated free of charge. Municipal schools and schools in rural and slum areas give priority.
Outreach Cataract Screening Program:
Our first CSR Donor M/s Visakhapatnam Steel plant (RINL) provided a fully equipped mobile van worth 95 Lakhs and has adopted some villages and Visakha Eye hospital trust. Regular screening program conducts, and patients are treated at the base hospital and in the mobile Clinic.
Under CSR activity, the Visakhapatnam steel plant (RINL) conducts the outreach program to the interior rural and tribal areas.
Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Disease Screening Program:
Diabetic patients in slum and rural areas and screened, and if any further treatment is required, they treat at the base hospital.
Vocational Courses for the Skill Development of Paramedics:
Visakha Eye Hospital trust is a recognized center for the Bharat SevakSamaj vocation education training of the central government. In addition, it conducts various courses in ophthalmic paramedical.
